King Charles sends Joe Biden personal notes after cancer news

It was learned that King Charles contacted former President Joe Biden after the news of his cancer diagnosis.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the king, who is currently accepting the undisclosed cancer, wrote a support message in person. The contents of this letter are still private.

On Sunday, May 18, Biden's office shared a statement showing that the former president, 82, was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer after seeing a doctor recently.

“Last week, President Joe Biden discovered new findings of prostate nodules due to increased emergency symptoms,” the statement said.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade 5), with bone metastasis,” the statement continued. “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive and can be managed effectively. The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with doctors.”

Biden thanked supporters for their wishes in an article on X on Monday and photographed with his wife, former first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, and their cat Willow.

“Cancer has moved us all,” Biden wrote. “Like many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are the strongest in the broken place. Thank you for advancing us through love and support. ”

In February 2024, Buckingham Palace officially announced that King Charles, 76, had been diagnosed with cancer and began treatment.

Although he was initially hospitalized for the prostate a month ago, palace sources have since clarified that the king's condition is not prostate cancer.

Shortly after the news came out, Biden expressed his “concern” to the king, adding that “God will” and he will soon speak to him for improvement in health.

The leaders met several times in person, including when Biden was vice president, King Charles was the Prince of Wales. Biden is the 13th and last president to meet Queen Elizabeth before his death in September 2022, and King Charles is the first to meet after he inherited his mother.

Biden and King Charles have also been journalists for years, especially about their shared passion for climate change.

In October 2024, the British Embassy confirmed that the king sent condolences to Biden after being damaged by Hurricane Helen.

“As the cleanup of devastating Hurricane Helen continues, King Charles expresses his grief and sympathy for the loss of his miserable life,” the statement said. “He also praised the courage of the emergency responders during difficult times.”
