Kimberly Williams-Paisley is mourning the death of her costar and on-screen mother Diane Keaton.
Keaton died on Saturday, October 11, in California at the age of 79. father of the bride film, shares touching memories of the star – including her infectious laugh.
“Working with Diane, it's truly one of the best memories of my life,” the 54-year-old actress said. “When I first auditioned father of the brideI was 19, and they took me to Los Angeles to audition, and I had never done anything like that before. They did my hair and makeup and sent me to the studio where I got to read with Steve (Martin) and Diane. ”
Going from the bright California sunshine to a dark theater to audition left her blind, she said.
“I couldn't see anything,” she recalled.

“Then I remember hearing Diane laugh and of course I knew who she was. I was a huge fan growing up. I'd seen Annie HallI have seen godfather, I've seen baby boom. That's the thing I was most nervous about, the thought of me getting to be with her, but it was just, wow, Diane Keaton. She’s just one of my idols,” Williams-Paisley continued.
She added: “It was such a great omen to hear her laugh before anything happened, before even meeting her. It was an auspicious start to a wonderful relationship. I did share a lot of laughter with her.”
Williams-Paisley said Keaton not only smiled generously but was also very friendly and affectionate to those around him.
“She had a great sense of humor, always laughing and always generous with compliments,” she said. “I remember after we did this father of the bride(3)ishshe asked for everyone’s phone number and then called everyone involved in the effort to tell them what a great job they were doing. She was just so giving. ”

“Honestly, you might think it's stupid, but I love it father of the bride Movie. They were so touching,” said Keaton, who plays Nina Banks, the wife of Martin’s George Banks.
She added at the time, “I just rewatched them and they were just as good.”
In a tribute to Keaton on Instagram, Williams-Paisley shared a photo of herself and the late actress reflecting on her legacy on screen.
“Diane, working with you will always be one of the highlights of my life,” she wrote. “You are one of a kind and it's so exciting to be in your orbit for a while. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your talent, and most importantly, your laugh. 🙏🏻🕊️💔❤️❤️❤️.”
